Dark roux or light? Seafood, sausage or chicken? Every February, chefs from around the Gulf Coast bring their best gumbo to Baytowne Wharf to settle the question. In 2027 the festival turns 38. A panel of celebrity judges names the winner, the crowd votes for a People’s Choice favorite, and there’s live music and activities for kids.

Sandestin sits at the west end of South Walton on US 98, so it’s an easy winter outing from 30A. Watch the festival site for ticket details.
