Billed as “better than a Turkey Trot,” the Grayt Jackalope is a Thanksgiving-weekend trail race through Grayton Beach State Park, with a 5-mile and a 10-mile course. Both distances showcase the state park. Rotorhead 30A Running Co. lists it on its race calendar, and registration is through UltraSignup.
A few logistics: Florida State Parks lists Grayton Beach State Park hours as 8 a.m. to sunset, with a $5 per-vehicle fee, and warns that the park can temporarily close to day visitors when it reaches capacity. Check with the race about parking and arrival times. The park’s page showed no storm-closure notice when we checked.
Before you make the drive: we confirmed this listing on Visit South Walton and Rotorhead 30A’s race calendar on October 19, 2026, ten days after Hurricane Isaias came ashore near Destin. A few South Walton beach accesses and amenities are still being repaired, so confirm with the organizer before you go.
